2. Unit description
2.1. Overview
The energy management solution offered by INGECON EMS Plant Controller is aimed directly to the industrial and
commercial markets. The device allows you to increase the level of penetration of the photovoltaic energy into the
group of power generators on the electric grid
Relative to the needs of the grid´s operators, grid managing and distribution companies, it acts as master of the
complete system in its group, with the aim of making the installation behave within the parameters established by
the corresponding grid codes.
The energy management system also allows for the inclusion of different elements in the plant, like energy storage
systems, reactive compensation systems or weather stations. These devices allow you to open a greater range of
options for more efficiently managing energy production.
INGECON EMS Plant Controller analyzes the flow of active and reactive power exchanged with the public network
via a power analyzer in the installation´s connection point. This way, and together with the status´ updates on the
different devices in the plant, it continuously determines the optimal consignment at which the inverters and other
active system must work at.

The strategy implemented in the INGECON EMS Plant Controller is a result of the available elements in the system
and of the prior configuration that is established by the user.
See the document ABP2011IQM02 for more information about the INGECON EMS Plant Controller´s
configuration.
The unit includes an industrial switch not managed for communication with the plant´s devices via an Ethernet bus
and Optic Fiber and a grid analyzer to know the grid´s electric connection point´s status.
