APPENDIX C
Close Loop Chillers
Close Loop Chillers are intended to be used for those applications where ambient contamination for the cooling fluid is not
accepted.
Close Loop Chillers are designed to operate with a pressurized hydraulic circuit, thus the commissioning and operation of these
units require dedicated procedures as described within the following Instructions.
1
Close Loop Chiller Start-up
This cleaning procedure MUST be performed before any start-up of a system and after any maintenance on an existing system;
this is mandatory for the correct functionality of the hydraulic part of the system and the non-observance of this procedure may
affect the warranty of Pfannenberg Chillers.
The difference between the Start up of an open loop and a close loop water chiller is the filling of the system. PFANNENBERG
units are equipped with a manual (or automatic on request) refill connection, Air discharge valve and Safety valve
In order to perform the Cleaning Procedure the following equipment is required:
•
Cleaning mixture tank
•
Cooling mixture tank
•
Pure demineralised water tank
•
Recovery tank
•
Refill pump
•
Nr.2 Sectioning valves
•
Fluid filter
Step 1: Turn Main Switch and all Circuit Breakers to the - 0 - (OFF) position.
