When rEsq dd™ is used as a mobile unit the lanyard may be too long, resulting
in the returning snap hook not travelling the full way back to the lanyard arrestor.
The lanyard can be complemented with a figure-of-eight knot and a snap hook, see
fig. 12 below, a few metres from the lanyard arrestor's lanyard feed where the next
evacuee is to attach the snap hook to his/her harness. Knots ought to be avoided as
far as possible as they weaken the lanyard's breaking force.
WaRning! if the position of the knot(s) on the lanyard result in the lanyard becom-
ing too short, evacuees being lowered will not reach the ground, which is
a serious safety risk.
rEsq dd™ is dimensioned to evacuate 8 persons in most cases. In the event of multiple
evacuation/descent tasks, check the maximum load and descent heights under Chapter 2
so that these comply with ResQ DD limitations.
