6.2.2 Positioning and affixing single models

Always position models in such a manner
that they are within the scan focus.
The placement of the model on the univer-
sal plate should be performed outside of
the scanner.
▷ Apply modelling wax uniformly on the universal
plate.
▷ Place the model centrally on the universal plate
and press it firmly against the modelling wax.
To ensure that the model being scanned is suffi-
ciently affixed to the universal plate and does not
become loose and fall off during the scan process,
the following must be observed:
▷ Press the model with both hands firmly against
the modelling wax.
▷ Pay attention that the complete bottom surface
of the model base has contact with the model-
ling wax.

NOTE:
The model must not project out beyond the rear
limit of the universal plate (metal pins).
▷ Afterwards, place the universal plate together
with the model on the scanner's Splitex retainer
and press it on.
NOTE:
When using modelling wax not supplied by the
manufacturer, it can occur that the model
becomes loose/detaches during the scan proc-
ess.
Insufficient scan results or damage of mechani-
cal components and/or the model are possible.
▷ Make sure that the modelling wax provides
sufficient holding force during the scan proc-
ess.

6.2.3 Positioning and affixing model pairs

Always position model pairs in such a man-
ner that they are within the scan focus.
Model pairs can be affixed either with a rubber
band or with use of the fixation spring levers.
The placement of model pairs on the uni-
versal plate should be performed outside
of the scanner.
