– When using a TOP-D pump as an single-phase
model (1~):
– The capacitor available as an accessory must
be assembled to one of the motor fixing
screws using the fixing strap provided (Fig. 5).
The heat insulation must be cut off at the col-
lar in this instance. Feed the capacitor con-
nection cable through the second cable gland
(PG 9).
– When using switching unit SK-C2 (capacitor
for hysteresis switching in the switching unit),
feed a 4-wire cable from the switching unit to
the pump through the cable gland (PG 13.5).
– Connect to the mains and connect the SK 602 /
SK 622 and SK-C2 tripping unit (observe rating
plate data) in accordance with the switching di-
agrams (Fig. 8 d to 8 h).

– When using the pump in systems in which the
water temperature exceeds 90°C, a connecting
cable with corresponding heat resistance must
be used.
– The supply cable must be laid in such a way that
it never touches the pipework and/or the pump
and motor casing.
– To guarantee protection against dripping water
and to ensure strain relief of the cable gland (PG
13.5), a connecting cable with an external dia-
meter of 10 - 12 mm is to be used and assem-
bled as shown in Fig. 6. In addition, the cables in
the vicinity of the cable gland are to be bent into
a run-off loop to drain off any dripping water.
– Pumps with terminal boxes 3 and 5 (Fig. 4) are
equipped with a collective fault signal „SSM" as
potential-free normally closed contact, contact-
load 250VAC / 1A, for an external signal to a hig-
her control room. The contact opens if the inte-

grated motor protection switches off the motor.
After manual reset (Fig. 4, Pos. 4) at the pump the
contact will be closed and the fault signal ak-
knowledged.
If the collective fault signal „SSM" will be con-
nected to an external Wilo switch- / control gear
via the connection „WSK" (winding protection
contact, terminals 15, 10) the fault must be ack-
knowledged at the pump first and then at the
switch- / control gear.
– Operation of the frequency converter: the three-
phase motors from the TOP-S/-SD/-Z range can
be connected to a frequency converter. When
using frequency converters, assemble an output
filter to reduce the level of noise and prevent da-
maging voltage peaks.
It is recommended to use sine filters (LC filters)
instead of du/dt filters (RC filters) to reduce
noise.
The following threshold values must be ob-
served:
– Voltage increase speed du/dt <500V/ms
– Peak voltages û<650V
The following minimum values must be ob-
served at the pump connection terminals at all
times:
– U
= 150 V
min
– f
= 30 Hz,
min
Where the frequency converter output fre-
quencies are low, the LED indicating correct
direction of rotation may switch off.
