3. Check the air cleaner elements
CAUTION:
Never run the engine without the air cleaner; rapid engine wear will result.
1. Move the choke lever to the CLOSED position (see page 22).
2. Remove the air cleaner cover by unhooking the right tab on the right of the air
cleaner cover and its two left tabs.
3. Check the air cleaner element for dirt or obstruction.
Clean the air cleaner element, if it is dirty (see page 47).
4. Reinstall the air cleaner element.
5. Reinstall the air cleaner cover by inserting the left tabs, then insert the right tab.
