11 Installation & Braking Force Adjustment
11.1 Installation
• O nly specially authorized and trained persons are permitted to install the Positioner
ATTENTION!
!
and make load adjustments.
• Never place the Positioner in the immediate vicinity of hot-air blowers.
• T he suspension structure to which the Positioner and its anti-crash safety device are
to be fitted must be designed with a safety factor of at least 5 (i.e. 5 x [dead weight of
Positioner + maximum permissible working load]).
1. Install the Positioner using the safety suspension Q.
2. Make sure that the Positioner cannot slip out of the safety suspension
— > tighten lock nut (1.1).
3. Fasten the anti-crash safety device W to the suspension structure, making sure that
• the range of movement of the Positioner is not in any way restricted.
• the falling distance will not exceed 100 mm should the Positioner
break away and drop down!
11.2 Adjusting the Braking Force
• T he Positioner is delivered with the braking force set to maximum load (7 kg).
ATTENTION!
!
• P rior to making any braking force adjustments, attach your working load to the fully
retracted cable.
• T he braking resistance and therefore the load capacity can be adjusted at the lateral
opening provided in the housing.
• A djusting in the "+" direction increases the braking force (= load capacity)
• A djusting in the "–" direction reduces the braking force (= load capacity)
• T he correct setting is achieved when the suspended load can be effortlessly pulled
down and remains securely suspended in any desired position.
• I f any "slippage" (slight drop) occurs after releasing the working load, the braking force
must be increased until the load is securely arrested in any desired position.
• T he minimum and maximum braking force settings are marked by noticeable end stops
(you'll feel resistance when reaching them).
• N OTICE: The spiral spring serves only for winding up the cable and cannot be adjusted!
• To adjust the braking force, you need a hexagon-socket (Allen) wrench (size 2.5 mm).
• Rotate the adjusting screw E carefully in the desired direction, but never beyond the end
stops.
