Putting the mask on the face (Figure 2)
A- Mask with elastomer fasteners or net
Place the chin into the bottom of the mask.
Pass the harness over the head.
Position the centre of the fasteners or net as far as possible to the back of head and progressively tighten the fasteners or net starting
with the lower straps then upper straps. Do not tighten excessively.
Place palm of hand over mask connector, breathe in and hold breath. The mask should collapse onto face and remain so as long as
breath is held. This helps to make sure that an effective seal is achieved. If the mask returns to its initial position before breathing out,
readjust the fasteners or net and repeat the test.
Important: The mask must be fastened correctly before starting any work.
B- Mask with KS fasteners
Place the helmet F1 on the head
Place the chin into the bottom of the mask.
Place hooks of KS fasteners into bosses of helmet F1
Gradually tighten fasteners of KS kit
Place palm of hand over mask connector, breathe in and hold breath. The mask should collapse onto face and remain so as long as
breath is held. This helps to make sure that an effective seal is achieved. If the mask moves away from face whilst the breath is held,
readjust KS fasteners kit and/or helmet. Repeat the test.
Important: The mask must be fastened correctly before starting any work.
Do not use the mask if it is not fully sealed. See the maintenance instructions.
Make sure that your hair is not caught between the mask and your face. The sealing of the mask is also affected by
beards, whiskers or temples of glasses
Always make sure that the breathing apparatus attached to the mask is suitable for the work in hand.
During normal use, breathe slowly and regularly.
Immediately leave the contaminated area if the mask or the attached respiratory equipment should fail.
Do not take the mask off before leaving the contaminated zone.
When removing the mask, take all necessary precautions to avoid inhaling the dust or contaminant retained on the
external surface of the mask.
Masks will be inspected by personnel qualified for maintenance and will involve replacing any damaged parts.
Any OPTI-PRO mask exposed to strong radiant heat must be inspected. Check all the sensitive components such
as the visor, bottom, fasteners or fastening system, and their securing points, retaining strap etc. KS kit straps
shall imperatively be changed in pairs.
Any OPTI-PRO mask exposed to a blaze must be replaced.
Removing the face mask
Push forward, with thumbs, on head harness buckle lugs to loosen and release elastomer fasteners, net or fasteners of the KS kit.
Gently pull forward to ease mask up and over head.
Cleaning instructions
Detach the breathing apparatus from the mask connector.
Wash the mask with lukewarm soap water or in an ultrasound tub with EPI-US in 3 % watery solution (consult maintenance instructions
for details). Do not use organic solvents or abrasive products to clean the mask.
Rinse the mask thoroughly with clean running water.
Wipe the mask dry with a clean lint-free cloth and hang it by the neck strap in a well ventilated place away from sunlight.
Once the mask is dry, clean the lens with a soft cotton cloth and ALTUSIL.
