All the air filter components used in this
machine have been carefully matched
with regard to their filter efficiency and
air permeability.
Only high-quality air filters should be
used to protect the engine against
ingress of abrasive dust.
STIHL recommends the use of genuine
STIHL air filters. The high quality of
these parts together with execution of
the specified maintenance work will
ensure troublefree operation and a long
service life for the power unit.

Motor Management
Exhaust emissions are controlled by the
design of the fundamental engine
parameters and components (e.g.
carburation, ignition, timing and valve or
port timing) without the addition of any
major hardware.
Setting the carburetor
Basic information
The ignition system of this cut-off
machine is equipped with an electronic
maximum speed limiter. Unlike the case
with conventional ignition, the maximum
speed cannot be increased beyond a
specified limit when adjusting the
carburetor.
The machine similarly cannot be
trimmed to "optimum performance" by
adjusting its speed.
The carburetor comes from the factory
with a standard setting.
This is the optimum setting under the
barometric pressure and climatic
conditions at the factory.
As a result, the engine performs
optimally with efficient fuel consumption
and maximum operational safety.
If the setting is too lean, the
engine may be damaged by
overheating and a shortage of
lubricant.
