4. For your safety
4.1 General
These safety regulations must
be observed when working with
the machine.
Read the entire instruction
manual before using the
machine for the first time. Keep
the instruction manual in a safe
place for future reference.
Also carefully read the entire instruction
manual for the STIHL gardening power
tool, in particular the section "For your
safety", prior to initial operation of the
engine.
The engine must only be started and
stopped as described in the instruction
manual for the STIHL gardening power
tool.
An ignition spark is generated when
starting the engine. For that reason, never
1
start the engine in the vicinity of gas leaks
or natural gas deposits and do not use
pressurised starting fluids.
The recoil starter rope is retracted and
recoiled after the engine starts. This
kickback can pose a risk of injury to hands
and arms.
Movement of the work tool on the STIHL
gardening power tool can start the engine
and generate an ignition spark. For that
reason, detach the spark plug socket
before performing any maintenance
operations on the engine. Keep the spark
plug socket away from the spark plug; an
inadvertent ignition spark can result in fires
or electric shocks. Ignition spark testing
should only be performed using a tested
spark tester.
Only maintenance operations described in
this instruction manual may be carried out
on the engine. Have all other work
performed by a specialist dealer. STIHL
recommends STIHL specialist dealers.
