6.8.2 Flushing/bleeding via a flushing valve
BWT recommends that a flushing valve is fitted at the filter cartridge outlet. If a flushing valve
is installed in the filter system outlet, the filter can easily be bled and flushed via this flushing
valve. Observe the operating instructions for the flushing valve.
6.8.3 Flushing/bleeding via the water outlet hose
If flushing/bleeding is not possible using one of the methods mentioned above, the filter
system can also be bled via the water outlet hose.
Procedure:
1. Close the check valve.
2. Disconnect the water outlet hose from the appliance, e.g. coffee machine.
3. Attach the end of the hose to the 10 litre container below.
4. Open the check valve.
5. Flush/bleed the filter system until bubble-free and clear filtered water emerges
(for flushing water volume, see the recommendations in Section 6.8).
6. Close the check valve.
7. Refit the water outlet hose onto the appliance.
8. Open the check valve.
9. Check the filter system and all connections for leaks.
6.9
Replacing the filter cartridge
I
CAUTION!
Close the existing check valve before replacing the filter cartridge!
INFORMATION!
f The filter cartridge must be replaced no later than 12 months after commissioning,
irrespective on the degree of exhaustion.
f The filter cartridge must also be replaced after a shutdown period of 4 weeks or more.
Procedure:
1. Close the check valve.
2. Unscrew the filter cartridge out of the filter head in a clockwise
motion (see Fig. 12).
Dismantling can be simplified by turning the filter head in the filter
bracket by 90°.
3. Check whether the carbonate hardness of the natural water has
changed and adjust the replacement intervals and bypass setting
as required (see Section 10).
4. Install new filter cartridge as described in Section 6.8 (see Fig. 12).
5. Flush and bleed filter cartridge as described in Section 6.8.
6. Dispose of the removed filter cartridge; observe the local disposal
regulations.

7 Service and maintenance
Every technical appliance requires regular service and maintenance work to maintain correct
functioning.
I
CAUTION!
Drinking water is a foodstuff
Hygienic care when handling the filter system should
therefore be a matter of course. Clean the outside of
the filter system regularly with a damp cloth and work
cleanly when replacing the filter cartridge. Avoid using
corrosive chemicals and cleaning agents.
Check for leaks
Daily
Check the pressure hoses
Regular check for breaks and pinch points. Broken
hoses must be replaced.
Break in operation
After a break in operation exceeding two days, the filter
cartridge must be flushed with a minimum of 4–5 litres of
water.
Replace filter cartridge
After 12 months at the latest (regardless of the residual
capacity); after a shutdown period of 4 weeks or more
Replace filter head
After 5 to 10 years
Replace pressure hoses
After 5 years
f Failure to respect the filter replacement intervals may cause damage to the downstream
appliances.
f Failure to replace the filter head or the hoses can cause property damage.

Filter head fitted incorrectly
Low water flow
System pressure is too low

Threaded connection
Faulty seal
leaking
Air bubbles
Not completely bled
Water is milky/white

Troubleshooting
Test check valves and open
if necessary
Unscrew filter by ½ rotation and reinsert as far as
it will go (see Section 6.9)
Check flow direction (direction of
arrow on filter head) and reverse
if necessary (see Section 6.5.2)
Check system pressure (see Section 6.2)
Flush system with built-in filter
(see Section 6.8)
Check seal, replace if necessary
Repeat the bleeding procedure (see Section 6.8)
Cloudiness disappears after
approx. 5 min.
Check carbonate hardness, bypass
setting and filter capacity, fit new
filter cartridge if necessary
