Explosion Relief Panel

See figure 17
Safety
A mixture of air and dust can be explosive under cer-
tain conditions. Literature on the subject lists the risks
for a large number of different substances. There are
also substances which have never been known to
cause an explosion.
The purpose of the explosion relief panel is to reduce
pressure within the collector by being the first compo-
nent to burst at an explosion and to direct the shock-
wave, and any particles it may contain, in a desired
direction.
For orientation see figure 17.
If the dust collector is indoors then the pressure wave
can be routed out into the open but the duct must be
short and straight. If the area is unchanged then the
length of the duct should not be greater than 1 m (40").
Manufacturer's Certificate
Documents supplied with the explosion relief panel are
enclosed with this manual as separate documents and
must follow the product to the end user. These docu-
ment should be kept in a safe place.
The duct must be dimensioned so that it can cope with
the force from the pressure wave. The area of the duct
must not be less than the area of the explosion relief
panel. Make sure that no damage can arise outside of
the building.
FlexPAK with explosion relief panel must be secured
to the floor in a safe manner. The bottom frame is
equipped with four holes for this purpose.
Warning signs are supplied with the product and must
be affixed so that they are highly visible both inside
and outside of the risk area. The relevant personnel
must be advised of the risks. The vacuum unit must be
stopped before anybody starts to inspect the explosion
relief panel.
Note. Maximumvalues Pmax = 10,0 bar and
Kmax = 185 mbar/s must not be exceeded!
Maintenance
Depress the "Filter Cleaning" button to
manually clean the filter which must be
done before maintenance work is perfor-
med by the collection bin. Switch off the
unit and switch off the power with the load
disconnect switch. In order to minimise the
risk of dust explosion, wait until the dust
has settled, depending on dust approx.
5 – 10 minutes before starting the opera-
tion.
