2 POWER indication
3 LED indication for the output level
4 PEAK value indication:
lights up if the optimum level is reached or
exceeded
The LED may shortly light up with passages
of highest volume. If it lights up longer, turn
back the control GAIN (1) or disengage the

CAUTION!
With the button pressed, the 48 V phantom
power is switched on. In this case no
microphone with unbalanced output must
be connected as this microphone could be
damaged.
7 Switch LIMITER for activating the level lim-
iting
8 Button PHASE for inverting the signal; with
the button pressed the signal will be inverted

2 Important Safety Notes
The units (microphone preamplifier and plug-in
transformer) correspond to all required direc-

WARNING The plug-in transformer is supplied
with hazardous mains voltage
(230 V~). Leave servicing to skilled
personnel only! Inexpert handling
or modification of the unit may
cause an electric shock hazard.
It is essential to observe the following items:
The units are suitable for indoor use only.
Protect them against dripping water and
splash water, high air humidity, shocks, and
heat (admissible ambient temperature range
0 – 40 °C).
Do not set the amplifier into operation, and im-
mediately disconnect the plug-in transformer
from the mains socket if
1. there is visible damage to the plug-in
transformer or to the amplifier,
2. a defect might have occurred after a drop
or similar accident,
3. malfunctions occur.
The units must in any case be repaired by
skilled personnel.
For cleaning only use a dry, soft cloth, by no
means chemicals or water.
No guarantee claims for the amplifier or the
plug-in transformer and no liability for any re-

will be accepted if the units are used for other
purposes than originally intended, if they are
not correctly connected, operated, or not re-
paired in an expert way.
If the units are to be put out of op-
eration definitively, take them to a
local recycling plant for a disposal
which is not harmful to the environ-
ment.
3 Applications
The MPA-104T is a microphone preamplifier for
applications on stage, in the recording studio,
and for home recording. It combines the advan-
tages of a low-noise transistor input stage with
the warm sound of a tube of type 12AX7A, the
essential item of the amplifier.
A microphone or a musical instrument or unit
with line level may be connected to the input
provided as an XLR jack and balanced 6.3 mm
jack. When connecting an unbalanced signal
(6.3 mm mono plug), the signal is converted at
the output into a balanced signal which is less
