4.6.3. Angle of the
steering wheel axle
By changing the height of the driving wheel or front wheel, the angle
of the steering wheel axle can also be altered. However, this should
always be at the correct angle (90°) to the floor (Fig. 21).
24
First, loosen the locking mechanism by loosening both Allen screws on
the inside (Fig. 22). You can adjust the angle using the two setscrews
on the bottom (see Fig. 23).
Then tighten the two fixing screws on the inside again (Fig. 22).
4.7. Wheelbase
25
Extending the wheelbase increases the stability and equilibrium of the
wheelchair.
If the wheelbase is reduced, manoeuvrability is increased. Please note,
a reduced wheelbase is only advised for practised drivers.
To adjust the wheelbase, loosen the four fixing screws that are used to
attach the wheel suspension (Fig. 24). The wheelbase can be changed
in three stages (Fig. 25).
Subsequently, attach the wheel suspension again in the recesses
provided for this purpose. Make sure that all screws are firmly tightened.
A wheelbase extension can also be used to raise the wheelbase.
52
Caution, risk of tipping! If you adjust the driving
wheel forwards, this significantly increases the risk
of tipping. In this case, anti-tipping wheels are
necessary. Check the settings first with a helper.
Only use settings that you feel safe with.

When the wheelbase is changed, it is absolutely
essential to adjust the locking brake afterwards.
4.8. Brake
4.8.1. Activation of the
locking brake (compact brake)
To lock the brake, simply push the brake lever forwards until it clicks
into place (Fig. 26). To release the locking brake again, simply pull the
brake lever backwards (Fig. 27).
4.8.2. Adjusting the locking brake
If you notice that the available braking effect is no longer sufficient or
is uneven, proceed as follows:
Check the tyre tread depth. Check also that the friction is even. If
the tread depth in the middle of the tyre is less than 1 mm, the tyre
must be changed. If you have the necessary technical knowledge,
you can change the tyre yourself. If you do not think you can do
this yourself, your mobility dealer will be able to help you.
Now check the adjustment of the brake. This must be set so that
the gap between the surface of the wheel and the braking bolt
is 15 mm with the brake off (Fig. 27). The braking bolt must be
aligned horizontally so that it is parallel to the ground surface.
After loosening the two lens head screws with hexagon socket
(5 mm) on the brake mount (Fig. 28), you can position the brake
correctly.
The compact brakes only operate on one driving wheel each.
You can perform a fine adjustment of the brakes on the two Allen
screws (Fig. 29).
With pneumatic tyres, always ensure that both driving wheels have
the same tyre pressure to achieve good directional stability. Once
the adjustment process is completed, firmly tighten the loosened
screw again and perform a brake test.
