3 Operation

3.1 Inserting or replacing the batteries

For power supply, two 1 5 V batteries of size
AA are required If the LED (2) shows red, the
batteries are discharged and should be replaced
•
Only insert batteries of the same type and
always replace both of them
•
If the microphone is not in use for a longer
period of time, always remove the batteries
as a precaution to prevent damage due to
battery leakage
1) To access the battery compartment (10), hold
the microphone head and screw off the screw
sleeve (4)
2) Open the battery holder (11) (pull hard to dis-
engage the battery holder), fig 2 on page 10
3) Insert the batteries with the positive and neg-
ative poles as indicated in the holder
4) Close the battery holder, making sure that
the holder engages; then screw on the screw
sleeve
3.2 Operation with
rechargeable batteries
Instead of batteries, it is also possible to insert
two rechargeable NiMH (nickel-metal hydrate)
batteries of size AA To charge these batteries,
the charging station 850CH-2 is ideally suited:
Leave the batteries in the microphone and insert
the microphone into a charging slot Power is
supplied via the contacts at the lower end of
the microphone
Used batteries and defective recharge-
able batteries must not be placed in
the household waste To protect the
environment, always take them to a
special waste disposal, e g collection
container at your retailer
3.3 Switching the microphone on /off
or muting the microphone
1) To switch on the microphone, press the but-
ton (5) or briefly slide the MUTE switch (3)
down and up The LED (2) shows green and
the backlight of the display (1) lights up for a
few seconds When you press a button, the
backlight is briefly switched on again

If the LED (2) lights up in red and if the
symbol starts flashing on the display, the
batteries are discharged

3) The cap (6) at the lower end of the micro-
phone can be removed and replaced by one
of the caps provided so that it is possible to
distinguish microphones from each other
when multiple microphones are used
4) To briefly mute the microphone (e g in
speech or music pauses), slide the MUTE
switch to the lower position: The LED (2) will
start flashing and the symbol
on the display The display of the receiver
R-4 / 5 will periodically show the message
Mic. Mute
5) To switch off the microphone, keep the but-
ton pressed for 2 seconds: The display will
briefly show the ID number for the REMOSET
function (chapter 3 4 2); then
pear on the display

3.4 Settings

The microphone can be set via a menu (fig 1)
or most conveniently from the receiver R-4 / 5
by means of the REMOSET function (chapter
3 4 2): When the receiver sections of R-4/5 have
been set, these settings can be transferred to
the corresponding microphones by a press on a
button Different ID numbers are used to assign
the microphones to the receiver sections
