Adjustment
12.1
When the resting position is correctly adjusted, the leveller platform stands vertically or at up to 3 degrees from the perpendicular in the
pivoting direction.
If the drawbridge leveller is equipped with multiple compression springs, the following tasks and settings must be implemented for all
springs at the same time.
12.2
Changing the resting position
12.3
To change the resting position, the compression spring unit on the leveller platform must be loosened; to do so, the leveller platform must
be secured in position beforehand to prevent it from pivoting (in both directions) as the action of the automatic safety lock mechanism may
not be adequate in this case! For example, the leveller platform should be supported by a crane.
Before making any further adjustments, the length of the spring housing must be measured and noted when the leveller platform is in
the vertical position.
After loosening the lock nut, the adjustment nut (3) must be loosened until the threaded rod (2) can be turned.
After removing the pin (1) and turning the threaded rod (2), the total length of the compression spring unit, and therefore the resting
position of the leveller, can be adjusted. Turning the threaded rod two turns clockwise, for example, reduces the inclination of the leveller
platform by approximately one degree.
Next, the pin (1) must be reinserted.
Once the adjustments have been made, the compression spring unit must be re-tensioned to the right value; as a rough guide, it must
be adjusted to the previously measured and noted length of the spring housing.
After checking that the automatic safety lock mechanism operates safely, the additional safety precautions for securing the leveller
platform can be removed and the leveller platform swung into the working position in order to check the downward pressure. When
doing so, note that the strength required to operate the leveller may be unexpectedly high under certain circumstances; the user should
therefore pay particular attention to finding a stable footing when operating the leveller.
Check the downward pressure and correct it if required. Please refer to the chapter entitled "Adjusting the downward pressure" for
details.
This installation manual must be given to the customer and kept safely during the entire period of use!
