Elimination of failures
Please note:
To ensure reliable functionality, the ViscoClock should be connected to the power sup-
ply for at least 3 minutes prior to taking test measurements.
The display is dark.
Power supply has been disrupted.
The specimen cannot be pushed or sucked up.
The silicon stopper is not seated entirely in
the filling tube (compression operation) or
the capillary tube (suction operation).
The hand pump is not seated completely on
the silicon stopper.
For suction operating mode: The silicon
membrane is not on the ventilation tube.
The specimen comes up or out when pushed down in the ventilation tube.
The membrane rod (release lever) with the
silicon membrane is not pushed down.
Membrane rod is pushed down, but the sili-
con membrane is not uniform or does not
seal the ventilation tube.
The measurement was not started or not stopped when the meniscus passed through the light barrier.
The timer is not running properly or not running at all.
Start button was not pressed hard enough:
The membrane rod triggers and opens the
ventilation tube, but the timer was not set to
zero and thus was not started for the meas-
urement.
The measuring time is to short.
The sample liquid is not sufficiently trans-
parent. Check the ViscoClock with a trans-
parent specimen.
Check the functionality of the measurement
time recorder.
Elimination of failures
Check connection/function of plug.
Check the silicon stopper for tight seating.
Set the glass tube from the hand pump tightly on the silicon
stopper.
Push the membrane rod with the silicon membrane down
while checking the seating of the silicon membrane on the
ventilation tube.
Push the membrane rod with the silicon membrane down.
Check the seating of the silicon membrane on the mem-
brane rod and pull down some if needed.
Start button must be pressed harder.
Measuring time: The measuring time should be more than
30 seconds. This is the requirement for a reliable meas-
urement recording. To prevent increased measurement un-
certainty, longer measurement times (> 100 seconds) are
recommended for narrow capillaries. Measuring time must
be extended by choosing another viscometer.
Check the ViscoClock with a transparent specimen.
-
Take the viscosimeter from the device.
-
Push down the ventilation membrane rod (release lev-
er).
-
Press start button.
-
Run a thin object (e.g., pencil, pen) through the upper
light barrier. Then start the time measurement.
-
The time measurement must stop again when the low-
er light barrier is passed through.
