Overcasting is used to prevent the fabric edges to
fray out. To involve the fabric edges with a stitch,
zigzag stitching shall be used.
RECOMMENDED INITIAL SETTINGS
Pattern: Zigzag stitch
Needle position: Center
Stitch length: 1- 2
Stitch width: Variable
Foot: General purpose
1. Place fabric under presser foot, positioning the
edge of the fabric in the center of the foot slot, as
shown in illustration 1.
2. Adjust stitch width so that one stitch ís inside the
fabric and the other is out, as shown in illus-
tration 2. This procedure allows that the thread
involves the fabric edge.
