- Página 5 STEP 5 OBSERVE FIRST REACTION Observe your dog's first reaction to the correction (Figure 7).Your dog may be startled the first time. Modifying your dog’s barking behavior may take several days. Each dog will need different lengths of time to learn to control their nuisance barking.

A responsible dog owner cannot let his or her dog become a nuisance to others. Chronic barking puts both the dog and the owner at risk of complaints from disturbed neighbors.
