5. If the LL100 Multi-Tip Freezer is being used, select the probe tip to be used and screw it onto the Freezer shaft. The tip need
only be finger tight. Do not use tools.
6. If a freezer with an integral thermocouple is selected, attach the thermocouple plug to the thermocouple receptacle (TC1 or
TC2) on the Timer/Temperature Indicator Console. Be sure to match the color code of the thermocouple prongs to that of the
receptacle, in order to assure a proper fit. Move the selector switch to the correct position for the thermocouple receptacle
selected.

exhaust hose to the GAS EXHAUST PORT. The other end of the hose goes to a discharge vent.
NOTE: Hose must have minimum of 0.635 cm internal diameter with a maximum length of 609.6 cm. Wallach REF 901015
scavenger hose is recommended. Care must be taken to avoid kinking the hose.
8. Slowly open the gas cylinder master valve by turning the hand wheel counter-clockwise. Listen for any gas leaks. (There should
be none.) Proceed to open the cylinder valve completely.
9. Once the gas pressure is stable, turn CONSOLE SWITCH to the "ON" position. The Freezer is now ready to operate.
PRECAUTION: Make sure locking/freeze trigger is not engaged before turning console switch to the "ON" position.
NOTE: It is recommended that an agent be used to enhance lubrication and moisture between the freezer and tissue. The
surface of the probe should be positioned so as to face the surface of the tissue.
10. Depress the freeze (FRZ) trigger on the left of the LL100 Freezer. Within seconds you will observe frost on the cryotip. The
freeze (FRZ) trigger will lock in position until the defrost (DEF) trigger on the right is depressed. When defrosting, depress and
hold the defrost (DEF) trigger down for 2-3 seconds. You will see the frost disappear almost immediately. The sound of
escaping gas is the normal gas exhaust coming out of the GAS EXHAUST PORT. (As mentioned, this gas may be vented via
an optional exhaust hose.)
NOTE: After a prolonged freeze, the white silicone hose exiting from the freezer handle may become cold. A light frosting may
occur, but this is normal. Though cold to the touch, the hose will not freeze or damage tissue.
11. Within 3 seconds after releasing the defrost (DEF) trigger, the instrument is ready to refreeze.
12. When the procedure has been completed, shut the gas cylinder master valve "OFF" by turning the hand wheel clockwise.
13. Turn the CONSOLE SWITCH "OFF."
14. You are now ready to remove the LL100™ Freezer. (If a freezer with an integral thermocouple has been used, remove the
probe thermocouple plug from the thermocouple receptacle.) Remove the LL100 Freezer by loosening the knurled ring on the
probe connector and pulling the probe connector gently, straight out of the CONSOLE RECEPTACLE. DO NOT PULL ON THE
FLEXIBLE HOSE. Always use the body of the LL100 Freezer connector when connecting or disconnecting the probe.
15. Remove the gas connector hose of the Probe Console from the gas cylinder.

CORRECTIVE ACTION
Take immediate action to reduce the gas pressure by closing the
cylinder valve, loosening the Cryo connector to the cylinder valve,
and carefully turning the cylinder valve "ON" again to bleed off the
excess pressure. This procedure is best performed in a wide-open
or outdoor area (in order to disperse the gas).
Either change the cylinders, or, if the cylinder was stored in a cold
area, allow the cylinder to warm up to ambient room temperature.
a-d. Refer to the service and repair section located in the instruction
manual.
e. Replace tank
Purge the gas lines to make sure that they are clear of moisture or
foreign matter.
a. Use a probe that is equipped with a thermocouple
b. Replace batteries
