Modelling:
Model the socket brim to the preferred shape. The sealing lip liner is suitable for many different
socket types; however, the socket should have full contact. Depending on the socket type,
certain areas of the cast must be built up, but this should not be in the sealing lip area, since
this may impair the function of the sealing lips (see Fig. 8).
A smooth socket interior surface is especially important as well to obtain a good seal. Make sure
you have a smooth model. To achieve a smooth surface on the plaster model, we recommend
the use of fine abrasives, followed by use of 116P11 Silicone Parting Agent Spray (see Fig. 9).
Estimate the necessary volume reduction, based on the measurements taken. We recommend a
reduction of 1 – 3 % proximally extending to 0 % distally.
Because the volume is one of the most important factors in the fit of the socket, please pay
particular attention to this part of the rectification process. Reduce as indicated above (see Fig. 10).
Note!
Please completely smooth the molded profile in the area of the sealing lips.
Neither a circular volume increase nor a significant reduction in volume is to be
carried out in this area.

Putting on the prosthesis:
Do not use alcohol spray or other aids such as petroleum jelly when putting on the socket
(see Fig. 11).
7.4 Notes regarding socket design
Create a socket with the usual techniques. All PETG test socket materials, laminated sockets
and a number of thermoplastic inner socket materials with a smooth surface are suitable.
To achieve a smooth surface on the plaster model, we recommend the use of fine abrasives for
smoothing after modeling, followed by use of 116P11 Silicone Parting Agent Spray.
In order to ensure long-term function of the sealing lips, we recommend the following
