4. BEFORE FIRST USE
UNPACKING
1.
Unpack the appliance and all the accessories.
2.
Check for damage that may have occurred during transport. If the appliance or any accessory
is damaged or missing, do not use the appliance and return it to the dealer immediately.
3.
Fill the water tank with fresh water up to the 12-cup mark. Follow the next section to brew
water (without adding ground coffee) until the water tank is empty and discard the water.
Repeat 2 to 3 times.
4.
Before first use, follow the instructions in the CLEANING AND CARE section to clean the
removable accessories thoroughly.
5. OPERATING INSTRUCTONS
5.1. BREWING COFFEE
1.
Open the water tank lid (8).
2.
Use the glass carafe (5) to fill the water tank (10) with the required amount of fresh drinking
water. The water level gauge markings are shown inside the water tank (10). Make sure that
the water level is not filled below the minimum 4-cup mark or above the maximum 12-cup
mark.
3.
Insert the brew basket (2) into the filter and brew basket holder (9) inside the coffee maker.
4.
Insert either the filter (1) provided or a paper filter (not provided) into the brew basket (2).
NOTE: Make sure the brew basket (2) and filter (1) are correctly assembled otherwise the lid will
not close properly.
5.
Add ground coffee into the filter (1) with the measuring spoon provided (6) and close the water
tank lid (8).
NOTE: Add 1 level tablespoon of ground coffee for each cup of water and adjust to your taste.
6.
Place the glass carafe (5) with the lid closed on the warming plate (13).
7.
Plug the coffee maker into the wall socket.
If you want to make strong coffee, press the strength button (B) before turning the coffee

maker on. The blue indicator light will illuminate when this function is on. You cannot activate
the strength button (B) once the on/off button (A) has been activated. If you want to make
regular strength coffee, skip this step.

Press the on/off button (A) to turn the coffee maker on and start brewing. The on/off button
indicator light will illuminate blue.
10.
To stop the brewing press and/or cancel the strength function, press the on/off button (A) and
all indicator lights will turn off.
11.
Once brewing is complete, wait about 1 minute to allow the coffee to finish dripping into the
glass carafe (5).
12.
The warming plate (13) will keep the coffee warm until the coffee maker automatically turns off
40 minutes after the brewing process finished. For optimal flavour and freshness, enjoy your
coffee immediately after brewing.
13.
Once you have finished using the appliance and if it has not automatically turned itself off,
press the on/off button (A) to turn the coffee maker off and unplug it from the wall socket.
NOTE: When brewing or pouring coffee, keep your hands and face away from the steam vent (7) /
carafe lid (3) as hot steam may be released.
5.2. DRIP-STOP FEATURE
The Drip-stop feature lets you enjoy a cup of coffee before the brewing has finished. Simply pour
yourself a cup and return the glass carafe (5) to the warming plate (13) within 30 seconds to prevent
coffee from overflowing.
