treatment of the lower airways in exceptional circumstances. In
this case, the patient must be sure to breathe in through the
mouth.
The nebuliser system can be used for nebuliser treatment of the
upper airways if the patient is a child using the accompanying
child mask and breathing in and out through the nose. Adults
use the adult mask, breathing in and out through the nose.
Nebuliser treatment for babies: In order to ensure efficient
nebuliser treatment for the lower airways in babies (up to age
three), you need a special baby nebuliser. In this case, contact
the manufacturer (for address see the back of the instructions for
use).
Nebuliser therapy for patients with a surgically created
opening in the windpipe (tracheostoma): The nebuliser
system is not suitable for patients who have undergone a
tracheostomy. Tracheostomised patients breathe through a
surgically created opening in the windpipe (tracheostoma). It is
not possible to assure effective treatment for this clinical picture
with this equipment.
Note that the connection tubing included with the nebuliser kit
must only be used for the inhalation device. If multiple tubing
systems are used at the same time for different applications
(e.g., infusion and inhalation), there is a risk that the wrong tub-
ing systems may be used by mistake, which in extreme cases
may result in death.
Any application other than the use described here is considered
improper, and therefore dangerous. In all cases the user is liable
for the safe operation of the nebuliser if it is not used according
to the instructions.
