monitor sleeve, nail polish or artificial fingernails, venous pulse or cathe-
ter, etc.).
Inspect the skin where the sensor is applied at least every 6-8 hours
(adults) or 2-4 hours (neonates) to ensure the sensor is correctly placed
and the skin beneath it is intact. You may experience adverse reactions
of skin sensitivity to the self-adhesive pulse oximetry sensor. In this case,
remove the sensor immediately.
Ensure that the connectors are connected to the device to prevent the
pulse oximeter and the nasal cannula becoming tangled, because in cer-
tain circumstances, this can cause constriction.
SWITCHING ON:
Press the on/off button for 1 second the button until you hear a short beep, the lights
come on and the unit starts the recording. The light on the finger sensor will come on.
Note: Use alkaline batteries. It is not possible to use rechargeable batteries under any cir-
cumstances. The recording of 8 hours of study is guaranteed with the use of new
alkaline batteries.
Note: It is essential not to sleep next to a person who snores, so that the microphone only
captures the sound of the person being studied. Otherwise, it is preferable to per-
form the study in a different bedroom.
Once switched on, you should try to spend the first minute of study seated quietly on the
edge of the bed, to gather the baseline parameters.
RECORDING:
From this moment the BTI APNIA unit is
recording and will not exceed 8 hours.
The device will automatically be turned
off after this time or when the battery has
run flat.
