4. Instructions for use
The optical level of the input signal to the RXFOT1SWB and RXFOT1DCSS receivers, and thus the optical
attenuation of the route, must be taken into account when sizing the fiber optic system since the optical
power output to the TXFOT1SWB transmitter is fixed (+10 dBm typical). The RXFOT1SWB and RXFOT1DCSS
receivers guarantee adequate TV and SAT signal level output if the optical signal at its input is between -8
dBm and -11 dBm optical and if the RF signal at the input to the TXFOT1SWB complies with the indications
given in the next paragraph. The optical leg attenuation allowed to the system must be between 16 and 21 dB
optical. In the catalog, there are optical line attenuators, splitters and shunts with different attenuations (in-
pass and shunt) that allow systems to be optimized, especially in classical cascade deployments, so as to
obtain an optical signal level received by the RXFOT1SWB and RXFOT1DCSS between -8 dBm and -11 dBm.
Refer to the product specifications to calculate the optical attenuations of the devices.
CAUTION:
• Direct connections between TXFOT1SWB and RXFOT1SWB and RXFOT1DCSS are not allowed unless ap-
propriate optical line attenuators are used.
• It is imperative to use an optical signal meter to check the input optical level to the RXFOT1SWB and RX-
FOT1DCSS and avoid damaging the receiving photodiode (it may be damaged if the input signal is more than
0 dBm).
• If the input signals did not have optimal quality or in case of distributing a large number of signals to a large
number of sockets, it is recommended to reduce the optical budget or use professional series splitters with
SC/APC connectors.
4 .1 Input signal requirements to the optical transmitter
For the proper transmission of signals over the optical fiber, RF signals must meet the following condi-
tions:TV (DVB-T/DVB-T2)
To ensure the proper transmission and reception of TV signals, it is necessary to equalize the input signals to
the transmitter, especially in the case of transmitting a large number of channels.
The signals to be transmitted must have a level of 75 to 85 dBμV in order to ensure proper reception by the
receivers RXFOT1SWB and RXFOT2DCSS even after an optical attenuation of 21 dB.FM and DABThe level of
FM and DAB signals must be at least 10 dB lower than the input power of the TV signal.
SAT
1. Input signal level: 75÷85 dBμVI
The level of input transponders to the TXFOT1SWB must be between 75 and 85 dBμV for proper operation of
CAG (automatic gain control)
2. Band linearity: 4 dB
