PROBLEM
POSSIBLE CAUSE & REMEDY
Power-On light does not
turn on.
Power-On light is on, but no
sound is heard from front,
rear or both front & rear
channels.
Head unit is not on; turn the head unit on.
Ground wire is disconnected or defective; check
for continuity with an ohmmeter between 3402's
Ground terminal and a known chassis ground
point.
Battery wire is disconnected or defective; check
for approximately + 12 volts between 3402's
Battery & Ground terminals.
Blown Fuse; check 3402's 3 A Fuse. If the
3A
fuse is not blown, then check all wiring for an
open battery line, including the in-line fuse by
the battery terminal. If either fuse is blown,
replace it with an identical one. If the new fuse
blows immediately, then re-check all the wiring
connections. If no fault is found, consult your
Alpine dealer.
Remote-On wire between the head unit & the
3402 is disconnected or defective; check for +
12 volts between 3402 Remote-on connector & | }
ground connector with the head unit on.
Make sure that 3402's Mode Selector switch is
in its correct position for your system
configuration (see pages 15).
Defective or disconnected audio cables; check
for continuity & replace if necessary.
Verify that 3402's output level controls are not
turned completely counterclockwise, if they are,
sound output level may be very low & may give
the impression that the system is dead.
Bypass the 3402 by connecting its input &
output cables together (with a female-to-female
RCA adaptor). If the system becomes functional,
the 3402 may be defective, consult your Alpine
dealer.
Defective Head Unit, or other audio component.
Check each component for wiring & operation.
