e) During assembly, protect the tolerance-compensating ele-
ment against too important bending and damages.
f) Align the coupling on the shafts, screw the coupling
without preload.
g) Secure the screws against loosening, see Screw Retention
[} 50].
4.1.5 Assembly Instructions for Hollow Shaft
Encoders
a) Slide the encoder on the shaft.
b) Comply with the minimum and maximum insertion depth of
the shaft in the encoder.
c) Comply with the maximum permissible shaft offset.
d) Screw the stator coupling or the torque stop without pre-
load on the drive flange.
e) Tighten the screws with a 1 Nm [0.74 ft-lb] torque.
f) Tighten the clamping ring with a 2.5 Nm [1.84 ft-lb] torque.
g) Secure the screws against loosening, see Screw Retention
[} 50].

4.1.6 Assembly Instructions for Tapered Shaft
Encoders
a) Block the drive shaft for the assembly.
b) Tighten the fastening screw of the tapered shaft with a
3 Nm [2.21 ft-lb] torque.
c) Comply with the maximum permissible shaft offset.
d) Screw the stator coupling or the torque stop without pre-
load on the drive flange.
e) Tighten the screws with a 1 Nm [0.74 ft-lb] torque.
f) Secure the screws against loosening, see Screw Retention
[} 50].

4.1.7 Screw Retention

Secure the fastening screws against loosening. This is
achieved, depending on the application, using e.g.
• Coated screws
• Threadlocker
• Schorr washers
Kübler recommends a threadlocker, e.g. Loctite (order code
8.0000.4G05.0000).
We recommend an additional protection against manipulation
by marking the fastening screws with locking varnish or sim-
ilar.
