Validity
These installation instructions for the roof box are approved for
Mercedes-Benz vehicles with basic carrier bars or basic carrier bars for
rails installed.
The roof box is used for transporting loads. For safety reasons,
Mercedes-Benz recommends using only accessories approved for use on
Mercedes-Benz vehicles in conjunction with this roof box. You can obtain
further information regarding accessories at a Mercedes-Benz Service
Centre.
These installation instructions apply to both available roof box sizes
(A0008400500 and A0008400600).
General notes
Observe all safety notes and working instructions in these installation
instructions and the vehicle Owner's Manual to avoid personal injury- and
damage to property.
Please check before beginning installation whether the requirements for
self-installation are met. Otherwise, contact a qualified specialist
workshop. Mercedes-Benz recommends that you use a Mercedes-Benz
Service Centre for this purpose.
Depending on the width of the basic carrier or the basic carrier bars for
rails and the permissible roof load, it may be possible to fit another roof
box or other products from the Mercedes-Benz product range.
The manufacturer reserves the right to change any of the technical
details shown in the illustrations of these installation instructions.
Installation should be carried out with the help of a second person.

Note
When transporting a load on the roof, observe national road traffic
licensing regulations and all relevant country-specific regulations.
The load must be secured with a load securing device.
Important
After installing the roof box, measure the overall height of the vehicle
from the ground to the top edge of the roof box and enter the overall
height on sticker (4) with a waterproof marker. Sticker (4) must be
affixed in the vehicle interior so that it is clearly visible to the driver. Find
a suitable location for the sticker and clean the area with a
non-aggressive, degreasing and wax-removing cleaning agent. Follow the
instructions on the cleaning agent packaging.
