INSTALLATION
Risk of damage to pump or other equipment.
• Do not run pump dry. Running dry will cause serious damage to the pump.
• Do not let the unit freeze. Freezing may cause cracking or distortion that may destroy the unit.
Physical Installation
NOTE: This pump can be used entirely submersed or in the open air with suction port in-line and
below the level of water being pumped.
1. Place the pump in the water.
• Set either on the screen or the two support legs opposite the power cord.
• For sandy or muddy surfaces, provide a smooth base.
2. If applicable, connect discharge piping.
• The piping must be equal to or larger than the pump discharge port.
NOTE: Do not restrict or block the suction and discharge port.
Electrical Connections
Risk of severe injury or death by electrical shock.
• Always disconnect the electrical power before touching the pump, discharge or electrical plug when water
is present in the area. Failure to do so can result in serious bodily injury and/or property damage.
• Be certain that this pump is connected to a circuit equipped with a ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI)
device if required by code.
• Be sure the electrical connection cannot be reached by rising water. Under no circumstances should the
junction box be located where it may become flooded or submerged by water.
• Connect the power cord to a constant source of power matching the voltage specified on the pump
nameplate.
• Always connect pump to grounded receptacle.
• Connect or wire the pump to its own circuit.
• The fuses or circuit breaker should be of ample capacity in the electrical circuit.
• If using an extension cord, make sure its connection with the power cord is not in water.
• If the power cord is damaged, the whole unit must be replaced.
