SAFETY – ACCIDENT PRREVENTION
Use as intended
• The spring balancers are solely designed for holding hand-held tools at the ready such as drills, pneumatic power
screwdrivers etc.
• A different use or an extended one is not considered as an intended use! Any damage resulting from this is not the
responsibility of the manufacturer/supplier. The risk is borne solely by the user.
• Before the spring balancers are deployed outside of the field of application described above, the written consent
of Carl Stahl Kromer GmbH is to be sought - otherwise the warranty becomes null and void.
• The spring balancers may only be installed, serviced and repaired by those duly trained and qualified.
• The suspended tool is pulled downwards – releasing it automatically returns it to its initial position.
Inappropriate use
The spring balancer must not be used as a crane.
Residual risks
DANGER !
Injuries which could possibly be lethal!
NEVER walk, work or stand under suspended loads.
The most serious of injuries are possible!
WARNING !
• Stress-relieved cables (not loaded) could whip back.
NEVER disconnect loads with the cable extracted.
Always connect and disconnect loads with the cable FULLY retracted.
• Any quick return of the cable (in the non-loaded state) can lead to the cable not being
properly anchored (cable has possibly broken from the cable mounting). Immediately
stop the operation with the spring balancer, mark it as faulty and inform the appropriate
supervisor.
• Tools which are drawn out beyond the permitted 10° inclined pull could swing violently
after being released and cause injuries.
• NEVER dismantle the cable housing (cable drum).

• Before working with the spring balancer, the operator must brief
CAUTION!
his personnel in keeping with the particulars in these operating
instructions.
• Never operate without safety appliances (e.g. fall protection device
[4]), remove them or through modification place them out of
service.
• Operating defective spring balancers is strictly prohibited. This is
e.g. the case when a spring balancer falls into the fall protection
device (4) or crashes down. Only after a repair is it permitted to
continue operations with this spring balancer.
• Repairs, dismantling and re-assembly work on the spring balancer
may only be carried out by those duly trained and qualified. In so
doing, always make use of the original spares from Carl Stahl
Kromer GmbH. Only these spares meet the requisite safety criteria.
• The spring balancer is only to be operated under load. Operating
undertaken on other components is linked to a crushing risk and is
strictly prohibited.
