Adjusting the height of cut (Fig. F)
The height of cut is adjusted by the central height adjust
mechanism.
Warning! Disconnect the appliance from the mains
and wait until the blade has stopped rotating before
proceeding.
f Set the wheels to the desired height setting with the
height adjustment lever (7)
Switching in and off
Switching on
f Hold the handle with both hands and tilt it slightly
downwards to raise the front of the appliance.
f Keep the lock-off button (3) pressed and pull the on/
off switch (2) towards you.
f Release the lock-off button.
f Let the appliance return to its working position.
Switching off
f To switch the appliance off, release the on/off switch (2).
Warning! Never attempt to lock a switch in the on
position.
Mowing (Fig. G y H)
We recommend to use yourmower as outlined in this
section in order to achieve optimum results and to reduce
the risk of cutting the mains cable.
f Place the bulk of the mains cable on the lawn, close to
the starting point (Position 1 in Fig. G).
f Switch the appliance on as described above.
f Proceed as shown in Fig. G.
f Move from Position 1 to Position 2.
f Turn right and proceed towards Position 3.
f Turn left and move towards Position 4.
f Repeat the above procedure as required.
Warning! Do not work towards the cable as shown in
Fig. H.
Emptying the grass bag
f When you see loose grass scattering from beneath
the mower, empty the grass bag.
Warning! Never use the appliance without the grass
bag.
Carrying the mower (Fig. I)
Warning! Disconnect the appliance from the mains and
wait until the blade has stopped rotating before proceeding.
f The mower can be carried using the convenient carry
handles (9).
HINTS FOR OPTIMUM USE
f If the grass is longer than approx. 10cm, make two
cuts to obtain a better finish.
f First mow at maximum height of cut, then use a low or
medium height of cut.
f In order to achieve optimum results, only mow dry
grass.
MAINTENANCE
Your BLACK+DECKER appliance has been designed
to operate over a long period of time with a minimum of
maintenance. Continuous satisfactory operation depends
upon proper appliance care and regular cleaning.
f Keep the appliance clean and dry.
f Regularly clean the ventilation slots with a clean, dry
paint brush.
f Regularly use a blunt scraper to remove grass and dirt
from the appliance.
f To clean the appliance, use only mild soap and a
damp cloth. Never let any liquid get inside the tool and
never immerse any part of the tool into liquid. Do not
use any abrasive or solvent-based cleaner.
f Before use, check the appliance for damaged or
defective parts. Check for misalignment and seizure
of moving parts, breakage of parts, damage to guards
and switches and any other conditions that may
affect its operation. Ensure that the appliance will
operate properly and perform its intended function.
Never use the appliance when any guard or enclosure
is damaged or not in place. Do not use the appliance
if any part is damaged or defective. Do not use the
appliance if the switch does not turn it on and off.
Have any damaged or defective parts repaired or
replaced by an authorised repair agent.
f Keep all nuts, bolts and screws on the appliance tight
to ensure a safe working condition.
f Check the grass bag for wear or damage and replace
it if necessary. Never use the appliance without the
grass bag.
f When not in use, the appliance should be stored in
a dry place. Children should not have access to stored
appliances.
f Ensure that only replacement cutting means of the
right type are used.
f Use only BLACK+DECKER recommended spare
parts and accessories.
f This appliance is not intended for use by persons
(including children) with reduced physical, sensory
or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and
knowledge, unless they have been given supervision
or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a
person responsible for their safety.
f Children should be supervised to ensure that they do
not play with the appliance.
