Electrical Considerations:
•
In all cases Herschel recommends using Type C MCB protection because current requirements of the
Vulcan are high and powering up the lamps will cause a momentary current inrush, which lasts only
milliseconds, but can be as much as 12 times normal operating current.
•

wire in Star (3-phase Wye) configuration (Phase to Neutral).

This is a Class 1 appliance and must be earthed.
•
For switching the heaters on, use a 3-phase thyristor with zero cross. Herschel also offers PLC controls
where multiple heaters are installed (contact Herschel for details).
•
Do not provide partial input signal to the thyristor (e.g. for dimming) as this can cause the lamps to
flicker.
•
Do not install or operate the heater where it can be dripped-on or where there is a risk of the unit
falling into water.
•
Do not exceed specified voltage.
MOUNTING POSITION:
For ceiling mounting.
Heaters arrive with:
-
one central bracket already fitted to the back of the unit (Square Units 6S & 12S)
-
two brackets already fitted to the back of the unit (Rectangular units 6L & 12L)
-
(unfitted) second bracket(s) and bolts for mounting direct to ceiling.
If it is intended to suspend the units from the ceiling using wire suspension kits, then just the fitted bracket
may be used.
If it is intended to mount the heater directly to the ceiling, then the second brackets and bolts must also
be fitted as shown below.
All operators shall only switch on/off the appliance provided that it has been placed or
