Qualifications of personnel
● The safety devices must only be installed
by suitably trained specialist staff.
● Incorrect installation or handling can lead
to serious accidents. The relevant
protective measures must be taken (e.g.
for aggressive operating media).

Gases under pressure
After discharging and/or
completely draining the hydraulic
accumulator (e.g. to depressurise
the hydraulic system before work
is carried out), the accumulator
can build up an amount of
pressure again if the lines are
later shut off on the fluid side.
● All the fluid-side lines connected to the
hydraulic accumulator must be depres-
surised and after that the lines must
remain open. Only then may the hydraulic
accumulator be removed from the
hydraulic system.
● Before working on the hydraulic accumu-
lator itself, the gas side of the hydraulic
accumulator must be depressurized and
remain open. Ensure that the gas side is
depressurized. Only then may the appro-
priate work (e.g. disassembly of the
hydraulic accumulator) be carried out.
Risk of bursting
On no account must any welding,
soldering or mechanical work be
carried out on the safety
equipment. These types of unau-
thorised work lead to a loss of
operating permission.
Risk of explosion
Only nitrogen may be used as an
operating gas. NO other gases
are permitted.
Danger of fatal injury
Before carrying out any work on
extension parts, the relevant
safety precautions must be
taken.
INT 3.504.BA8/03.23
● When pressurised parts are removed, they
may be expelled at great speed.
Risk of burns
The safety devices can become
hot or cold.
Risk of suffocation
When the safety device
responds, nitrogen is released
into the surrounding area. Large
quantities of nitrogen in enclosed
areas cause a lack of oxygen.
● When using in enclosed areas: ensure
adequate ventilation.
Health hazard
In exceptional cases (e.g. prior
damage to the separation
element in the hydraulic accumu-
lator), a mixture of nitrogen and
operating fluid may escape (from
the bleed points of the safety
device) even if the safety element
does not respond. Appropriate
protective equipment must be
installed to prevent personal
injury.

Transport and storage
622330123-5
Transport
Safety equipment can be transported without
special precautions. Damage is to be
avoided.
Storage
The safety devices can be stored in any
position (orientation). To prevent any contam-
ination entering the safety devices, it is
essential to seal the gas connection and the
bleed points.
Safety devices must be kept in a cool, dry
place, protected from direct sunlight. The
devices can be stored in its packaging.
They can be stored for up to 12 months. If a
safety device is to be stored for longer than
12 months, this must be coordinated with
HYDAC.
