2. Safety Instructions
To ensure safe operation and in order to exploit the full functionality of the meter, please follow the
directions in this section carefully.
This multimeter has been designed according to IEC-1010 concerning electronic measuring instruments with an
overvoltage category CAT II 1000V, CAT III 600V and pollution 2.
• Damage caused by disregard of certain guidelines in this manual is not covered by the warranty and the dealer
will not accept responsibility for any ensuing defects or problems.
• When using this meter, the user must observe all normal safety rules concerning protection against the danger of
electroshocks and protection against misuse.
• The test leads must always be in good condition. Before using, verify that the insulation on the test leads is not
damaged and/or the wires are not exposed.
• Full compliance with safety standards can only be guaranteed if used with the supplied test leads. They must be
replaced with the same model or the same class.
• Never exceed the protection limit values indicated for each measurement range.
• Do not touch unused terminals when the meter is linked to a circuit.
• When the value scale to be measured is unknown, set the range selector at the
highest position.
• Disconnect the test leads form the circuit under test before rotating the range
selector.
• When carrying out measurements on TV or switching power circuits, there may be
high amplitude voltage pulses which may damage the meter.
• Never perform resistance measurements on live circuits.
• Always be careful when handling voltages > 60VDC or > 30VAC RMS. Always keep
fingers behind the guards.
