1. Disconnect the plug from the power source.
2. Remove the bump cap
depressing the two release tabs

nOTE: It may be necessary to pull up on the bump cap
while depressing the release tabs one side at a time.

nOTE: If the cutting line extends past the
recesses 26 , the spool will not fit into the

housing, gently press and pull straight out on the

align the release tabs
with the slots 22 in the spool housing and press the
bump cap 19 into place.
nOTE: Make sure that bump cap
listen for two audible clicks to ensure both release tabs
are correctly located. Power the appliance on. Gently
bump the trimmer on the ground while running at
normal speed and the line will feed to the proper length.

nOTE: Hand wound spools from bulk line are likely to
become tangled more frequently than BLACK+DECKER
factory wound spools. For best results, factory wound spools
are recommended.

Do not overfill spool. The spool holds 20 feet (6 m) of line.
1. Disconnect the plug from the power source.
2. Start with an empty BLACK+DECKER RS‑136 spool
3. Locate the two holes
4. Insert the end of the bulk cutting line
1/8" (3 mm) into the one of the holes
winding the line around the spool.
