for the upper bead.
8) Depress pedal (5, Fig. H) to release the wheel from the table top.
N.B. Demounting and mounting are always done with the table top rotating
clockwise. Anticlockwise rotation is used only to correct operator errors or
if the table top stalls.
10.5 BEAD SEATING AND INFLATING
IMPORTANT: All the operations described in this section refer to machines
equipped with an inflation gun.
DANGER!!
Tyre inflation is dangerous.
Follow carefully all the cautions and instructions given.
A WHEEL CAN EXPLODE IF:
1) the diameter of the rim is not exactly the same at the tyre's.
2) the rim or tyre are defective.
3) if the maximum recommended pressure is exceeded during bead seating.
4) the tyre is inflated to a pressure higher than the maximum recommended by the manufacturer.
5) the operator does not observe the requisite safety regulations.
Follow these steps:
1) Remove the valve stem.
2) Clip the valve onto the inflator chuck making sure it is properly connected.
3) Make a last check to be certain that tyre and rim diameter correspond.
4) Check to be certain that rim and beads are sufficiently lubricated. If necessary lubricate some more.
5) Seat the beads with short bursts of air. Between bursts, check the air pressure on the inflator gauge. Check to see if the beads have seated and,
if not, repeat the process. Special take must be taken when seating beads on humped or double humped anti-bead breaking rims.
6) Continue to inflate the tyre with short bursts of air and constantly checking the pressure between bursts until the required pressure has been
reached.
EXPLOSION HAZARD!
NEVER exceed 3.5 bar (50 Psi) when seating beads or inflating tyres.
IMPORTANT! If a higher tyre inflation pressure is required, remove the wheel from the tyre changer and continue
the inflation procedure with the wheel inside a special protection cage (commercially available).
NEVER exceed the maximum inflation pressure given by the tyre manufacturer.
ALWAYS keep hands and entire body back from inflating tyre.
ONLY specially trained personnel are allowed to perform these operations.
Do not allow other to operate or be near the tyre changer.
DANGER!!
Tyre or rim failure under pressure is hazardous and any resulting explosion can propel the tyre
upward and outward with sufficient energy to cause serious injury or death to operator or
bystander.
Though this tyre changer is equipped with a pressure limiter set at 3.5 bar (50 Psi), it is not
intended to be a safety device to contain exploding tyres, tubes, rims or bead sealing equipment
and, hence, does not eliminate the risk of and damage from any such explosion.
