1. Introduction
Dear user,
You have chosen a high-quality wheelchair from Bischoff & Bischoff.
Thank you for trusting in us.
This user manual contains all the information necessary to operate the
Pyro Start Plus / Pyro Start Plus SL wheelchairs.
The Pyro Start Plus SL model allows greater adaptability for larger
individuals due to the larger seat height, seat depth and backrest
height.
Your wheelchair was designed for both indoor and outdoor use.
Before using your new wheelchair for the first time, please read and
follow the information in this User manual carefully. This is an integral
and necessary part of the wheelchair. Keep the User manual within
easy reach and pass it on when transferring the wheelchair.
For users who are visually impaired, this document is available as a pdf
file on our website www.bischoff-bischoff.com.
Note!
Despite thorough research and editing, incorrect information may
occur in our User manual. We reserve the right to make technical

2. Important safety information
2.1. General safety information
•
In order to prevent falls and dangerous situations, practise with
your new wheelchair on level, clear ground first. An attendant is
recommended.
•
Before using the wheelchair check that all attached parts are
properly fixed.
•
Only lift the wheelchair using firmly installed parts (see Chapter
6.3).
•
The risk of tipping over to any side increases with changes in
balance through body movements or loading the wheelchair.
•
The wheelchair must not be used to transport several individuals or
loads. Please respect the intended use (see Chapter 2.5)!
•
When carrying out setting or adjustment work on the wheelchair
there is a risk that body parts could get pinched!
•
Keep items of clothing and body parts away from gaps between
moving parts!
•
When negotiating obstacles (steps, etc.) call in an attendant. Use
tipping aids (see Chapter 4.12).
•
Only go up or down steps or large obstacles with the help of at
least two attendants (see Chapter 6.3). Use equipment such as
ramps, lifts or stair-climbing devices, if these are available.
•
When driving on downhill/uphill slopes, please be aware that even
at a few degrees, there is a risk of tipping over. We recommend the
use of anti-tip wheels (see Chapter 4.13).
•
Avoid collisions of any type.
•
Only drive on level, firm ground.
•
When transferring to or from the wheelchair, apply both parking
brakes (see Chapter 4.7.1).
•
Each time, before setting off, you must check that the brakes work
properly.
•
When on roads, observe the road traffic regulations.
