Checking the oil level and filling with oil (figure Y1 )
For explanation of symbols, see the table on page 3
IMPORTANT
Avoid damage! Engine is delivered without oil. You must add oil before running
the engine.
–
The scarifier must stand horizontally on level ground.
–
Remove any dirt from the oil filling area.
–
Take out the dipstick (1) and wipe it with a clean cloth.
–
Insert the dipstick (1). Do not turn or tighten it.
–
Pull out the dipstick (1) and check the oil level. If the oil level is correct, the oil will
reach up to the full mark (2) of the dipstick.
–
If the oil level is too low, slowly pour engine oil into the filling hole (3) (for quantity
and quality, see technical data). The oil level should reach up to the lower edge of
the filling hole.
–
Insert the dipstick (1) again and tighten.
Filling with fuel
For explanation of symbols, see the table on page 3
–
Only fill the tank with fresh and clean unleaded standard petrol.
Fuel with up to 10% ethanol is acceptable.
–
Unscrew the tank cap.
–
Fill tank with fuel using a funnel up to max. lower edge of the filling nozzle.
–
Replace tank cap and screw tight.
10 STARTING THE ENGINE
(FIGURE Z2 + S2 + A2 + E + Q2 )
Before starting the engine, ensure that the cutter shaft is in the lifting
position (1) Z2 .
Only start the engine when standing behind the scarifier. Always place the
scarifier on a level area which is not covered with high grass (if the grass is too
high it will block the cutter shaft start-up and make starting the scarifier more
difficult). When the engine is started, the machine must not be tilted on end, if
necessary it must be tilted by pressing the guide bar down so that the cutting tool
is pointing in the direction away from the user, but only as far as absolutely
necessary. As long as the device has not been lowered to the ground again, both
of your hands must be on the top part of the bar.
CAUTION
Hold the starter cable handle firmly when starting. The handle may otherwise
slip out of your hand. Risk of injury!
–
Open the fuel tap (2) S2 .
–
If the engine is cold, push the choke lever (3) on the engine to the "Choke"
position
.
–
Move the throttle control lever (4) backwards to position "Hare". During engine
operation, the throttle control lever should remain in "Hare" position.
–
To start the engine, first hold the red button (5) pressed and then pull the safety
grip (6) on the top guide bar. During operation, the safety grip must remain held in
this position A2 .
–
Slowly pull the starter cable (7) until resistance is felt, then pull it out rapidly,, – the
engine begins to run, slowly recoil the cable E .
–
Under certain circumstances the starting process must be repeated.
–
After the engine has warmed up, push the choke lever (3) forwards into operating
position Q2 .
–
In an operationally hot engine, push the choke lever (3) on the engine forwards
into operating position. Start the engine as described above.
–
If the engine does not start running, then proceed as when starting a cold engine.
11 SWITCHING OFF THE ENGINE (FIGURE F + Y2 )
–
Release the safety control bar (1) F . The engine switches off and the cutting tool
comes to standstill. Attention! The cutting tool runs for a while!
–
Close the fuel tap (2) Y2 .
12 EMERGENCY STOPPING

on page 3
Release the safety control bar.
–
The cutting tool will stop. Attention! The cutting tool runs for a while!
–
The engine will stop.
ATTENTION
Before every scarifying job, make sure that the engine stop safety control bar is
working perfectly:
–
When the safety grip is released, the engine must switch off and the cutting
tool must come to a standstill (Caution! The cutting tool runs for a while!).
If this is not the case, please consult your nearest authorised workshop.
13 ADJUSTING THE SCARIFYING DEPTH
For explanation of symbols, see the table on page 3
The scarifying depth must only be adjusted with the engine switched off!
To work with the scarifier, the scarifier lever is pushed forward into the "Scarify"
position T2 . This lowers the cutter shaft and the blades penetrate the turf.
The working depth depends on the blade wear, and must also be set taking into
account the relevant grass and ground conditions.
Always check and adjust the scarifying depth on a level area of lawn.
With the cutter shaft lowered, the blade should just be in contact with the turf. A working
depth of up to 3-5 mm is recommended. In the case of a well-tended lawn with soft
ground, the scarifying depth can be set slightly deeper. In case of a very mossy lawn
surface, the initial working depth should be slightly less.
Setting (figure T2 + V2 + Z2 )
On a new machine, the cutter shaft is in the uppermost position. Set the scarifying
depth as follows:
–
Tip the scarifier lever forwards in order to lower the cutter shaft T2 .
–
Turn the rotary knob (1) to the left until the cutter shaft is just scratching the
surface of the lawn V2 .
–
Align the pointer (2) (arrow) in the rotary knob with the marking on the housing
(zero adjustment) V2 .
–
Now turn the rotary knob to the left so that the cutter shaft cuts into the ground.
The pointer is automatically turned as well V2 .
–
A complete revolution (360°) to the left will lower the cutter shaft by 1.5 mm.
–
The scarifying depth should initially be approx. 3–5 mm, in other words,
2–3 revolutions of the rotary knob to the left.
–
The lever is set vertically to raise the cutter shaft from the set working position.
This does not change the set scarifying depth Z2 !
After a few operating hours, the cutter shaft may need to be re-adjusted because of
wear. The more intensively you use it, the more wear on the blades. Hard or very dry
soils accelerate the wear. In this case, proceed in the same manner for the scarifying
depth adjustment as described above.
14 GRASS COLLECTOR
Operation with grass collecting bag (accessory)
The scarifier can also be operated with a grass collecting bag (for order no., see original
spare parts and accessories).
WARNING
When operating the equipment with a grass collecting bag, the bag must be
completely assembled and in technically perfect condition.
