1.3. Intended use

SpillGuard® connect is a mains-power-
independent leak recognition system for
detecting leaks of liquids / liquid hazardous
substances. It is designed for use in clean,
uncontaminated spill sumps. The spill sumps
should preferably be in metal or non-metallic
(plastic) materials. Outdoor use is not
permitted. SpillGuard® connect may only be
used within the limits for use defined on the
nameplate. It is suitable for Ex zone 0, due to
gases and vapours.
SpillGuard® connect may only be used as
a precaution with the liquids which have
already been positively tested by DENIOS.
The list of positively tested substances can be
found here:

The stability list contains a
representative selection of liquid
hazardous substances. On request,
DENIOS can carry out a functional and
exposure test for your substance. The
test covers checking the reliable
detection of the substance as well as
the subsequent maintenance of the
visual and audible alarm signals for a
period of 24h (exposure test).

1.4. Improper use

The product must not be used for the
following purposes:
Use in spill sumps for storing non-
W
approved media
Use in potentially explosive areas outside
W
the nameplate limits
Use in potentially explosive areas caused
W
by dust
Any use which is not expressly described
W
as permitted in this Quick Guide
i
The user is liable for any use not in
accordance with the intended use!
1.5. Duration of use
The contractual run time for the wireless
modem and thus the duration of use of
SpillGuard connect® is 5 years. The battery
service life has also been designed for this
period, with the conditions of use expected
being taken into account. If the conditions of
use deviate from these e.g. insufficient signal
cover or too low application temperatures,
this will have a negative impact on the service
life of the batter and thus the duration of use
of SpillGuard® connect. SpillGuard® connect
must be replaced following one-off leakage
detection and thus contamination with the
hazardous substance.
Notice:
This does not apply in the event of a false
alarm, which will not have a negative impact
on the function of SpillGuard® connect.
The service life of SpillGuard® connect is a
maximum of 5 years, after which SpillGuard®
connect must be replaced.
i
The SpillGuard® connect battery must not
be replaced!
2. Requirements for the
installation location
SpillGuard® connect is mainly to be used in
the base of a spill sump.
The following prerequisites must be met:
The base of the spill sump must be free of
W
any type of contamination.
SpillGuard® connect must be aligned
W
parallel to the substrate.
The installation location should be at the
W
lowest point of the spill sump so that a
leak is detected as early as possible.
The environment for the installation
W
location should be chosen in such a way
that there is no shielding of or
interference with the wireless signals.
