Assembly
Warning! Before assembly, make sure that the tool is
switched off and unplugged.
Fitting sanding sheets with nylon loops (fig. A)
Warning! Never use the tool without a sanding sheet or
accessory in place.
Your sander is designed to use 125mm sanding discs with
the 8 hole dust extraction pattern. For best results, use
BLACK+DECKER accessories.
Make sure that the tool is switched off and unplugged.
u
Press the sheet firmly and evenly onto the sanding base
u
making sure that the holes in the sheet line up with the
holes in the base.
The hook and loop fastening system sanding disc can be
u
easily removed by simply pulling it off. It can be reused as
desired.
Dust collection (fig. B)
Warning! Collected sanding dust from sanding surface coat-
ings (polyurethane, linseed oil, etc.) can self-ignite in sander
dust bag or elsewhere and cause fire. To reduce risk, empty
bag frequently and strictly follow sander manual and coating
manufacturer's instructions.
Your sander comes equipped with a cloth canister (4) to col-
lect the dust generated while sanding.
To attached the canister to the sander, line up the grooves
u
(6) in the canister (4) with the nubs (7) on the dust port.
Slide the canister onto the dust port and turn the canister
u
clockwise to lock it in place.
To remove, turn the canister counterclockwise and slide
u
the canister off.
To empty the canister, remove it from the dust port and
u
dump the sanding debris into an appropriate trash
receptacle.
Switching on and off (fig. C)
To switch the tool on, set the on/off switch (1) to
u
position I.
To switch the tool off, set the on/off switch (1) to
u
position O.
Hints for optimum use
Grasp the sander and turn it ON. Move it in long, sweeping
strokes along the surface, letting it do the work. Pushing down
on the tool while sanding actually slows the removal rate and
produces an inferior quality finish. Check your work often. This
sander is capable of removing material rapidly.
On very uneven surfaces, or when removing layers of
u
paint, start with a coarse grit. On other surfaces, start
with a medium grit. In both cases, gradually change to a
fine grit for a smooth finish.
(Original instructions)
Consult your retailer for more information on available
u
accessories.

over a long period of time with a minimum of maintenance.
Continuous satisfactory operation depends upon proper tool
care and regular cleaning.
Warning! Before performing any maintenance on the tool,
remove unplug the charger before cleaning it.
Regularly clean the ventilation slots in your tool using a
u
soft brush or dry cloth.
Regularly clean the motor housing using a damp cloth. Do
u
not use any abrasive or solvent-based cleaner.
