Your AirTag and the case are two separate products. For information regarding care of your AirTag, please
refer to the Apple user manual for AirTag.
The assembled case on your AirTag can be pre-cleaned by washing with soap & water. It can then be
disinfected using 70% isopropyl alcohol, 70% ethanol, Lysol® Wipes, Clorox® Wipes or Opti-Cide 3® Wipes.
Avoid using cleaning products containing povidone-iodine (such as Betadine®), as this may affect the
function and aesthetic qualities of the case. Follow the instructions of the disinfectant manufacturer. It is
best practice for some disinfectants to be rinsed with water after disinfecting to remove residue that may
break down or wear the cases. Then pat dry with a non-abrasive cloth.
The case may collect dirt in crevices or gaps. You can remove the AirTag from the case to clean (if
necessary). Dirt can be removed by light brushing parts in soapy water using a toothbrush. Do not use
anything hard or sharp on the Silicone Wrap. Rinse off any soapy water that remains on the case after
cleaning and allow it to dry prior to use.
Minimize exposure of your case to anything that may cause stains, or other damage, such as dirt or sand,
makeup, ink, soapy water, detergent, salt water, pool water, acids or acidic foods, acetone (e.g. nail polish
remover), perfume, insect repellent, lotions, sunscreen, oil, hair dye, or solvents (e.g. gasoline, motor oils or
other liquids that contain hydrocarbons), as they may permanently mar or cloud the plastic parts of the case,
cause discoloration, could degrade the Silicone Wrap or lead to corrosion of metallic parts. In certain
circumstances, exposure to such chemicals may result in loss of use or failure of the case. If exposed to
these chemicals, rinse in clean water immediately and dry using a non-abrasive, lint-free cloth - e.g., a lens
cloth.
The case and components may NOT be suitable for all situations, including:
• The case and your AirTag should be handled with care. They can be damaged, impair functionality, or cause
injury if dropped, burned, punctured, crushed, disassembled, or if exposed to excessive heat or liquid or to
environments having high concentrations of industrial chemicals.
• This is not safety or protective equipment.
• The case may detach depending on use. Allow 72 hours for the adhesive on the tape to create an optimal
bond strength before using the item.
• The 3M™ VHB™ tape is designed to be a permanent method to bond on many types of surface (refer to the
3M website regarding surface preparation prior to use and limitations). Therefore, users should deem the
bond permanent and carefully choose the surface before application.
• Pets and animals may damage the case through usage, e.g., chewing, which may cause injury to the pet and
animals if chewed or swallowed.
• While usage applications of the case may be suggested, user's are reminded to exercise sensible
judgement and supervision when using the case.
3M™ VHB™ Tape. The 3M™ VHB™ Tape bond is built to withstand the rigors of exposure, resist hot, cold and
cycling temperatures, UV light, moisture and solvents. It seals against environmental conditions and damp
vibration to reduce metallic wear-and-tear. To improve the strength of the bond, it is important to follow the
3M user manuals on tape application. Surface preparation prior to bonding is also important, which may
require additional work under the following circumstances:
• Heavy Oils: A degreaser or solvent-based cleaner may be required to remove heavy oil or grease from a
surface and should be followed by cleaning with isopropyl alcohol (70%) and water.
• Abrasion: Abrading a surface, followed by cleaning with isopropyl alcohol (70%) and water, can remove
heavy dirt or oxidation and can increase surface area to improve adhesion.
• Adhesion Promoters: Priming a surface can significantly improve initial and ultimate adhesion to many
materials such as plastics and paints.
• Porous Surfaces: Most porous and fibered materials such as wood, particleboard, concrete, etc. need to be
sealed to provide a unified surface.
• Unique Materials: Special surface preparation may be needed for glass and glass-like materials, copper and
copper containing metals and plastics or rubber that contain components that migrate (e.g. plasticizers).
Other factors to consider are pressure applied to the case when sticking the case to a surface, optimum
temperatures to facilitate adhesion and adequate time for the bond to fully set.
Do not use the case on surfaces that show signs of wear, flaking, scratches or other damage or are uneven
or multilayered (e.g. paint, laminates and others), as removal of the case from such surfaces may cause
permanent damage to it.
Do not stick the case directly on skin, body parts, pets or other animals.
