NB: particularly with alloy rims, dents can cause internal micro-cracks not
visible to the naked eye.
This can compromise the rim and can also be a source of danger especially
during inflation.
- the diameter of the rim and tyre are EXACTLY the same.
NB: the diameter of the rim is stamped on the rim. The diameter of the tyre
is stamped on the tyre wall.
NEVER try to mount a tyre on a rim if you cannot identify the diameters
of both.
MOUNTING
1) Apply a liberal amount of manufacturer recommended rubber lubricant to
tyre beads and rim well.
2) If the rim has been removed from the table top, clamp it back on the table as previously described in the section on "CLAMPING THE
WHEEL".
3) Depress the pedal (7, fig. G) to bring the column (8, Fig. G) to its working position.
When moving the tool arm to its work position, do not place your hands on the rim.
There is always the risk of hands being crushed between the tool head and the rim.
4) Position the mount/demount tool (16, Fig. G) by hand against the edge
of the rim.
Lock the hexagonal arm (10, Fig. G) and horizontal arm (11, Fig. G) as
described under 2 of the demounting procedure.
IMPORTANT! If you are mounting a tyre previously demounted or on wheels
with the same size rims, there is no need to use the handle (9, Fig. G)
every time to lock or unlock the swing and vertical arms. Simply tilt back
the column (8, Fig. G) and reposition it with the pedal (7, Fig. G).
To prevent industrial accidents, keep hands and other
parts of the body as far from the tool arm as possible
when the table top is turning.
5) Guide the tyre so that the lower bead is above the forward portion of the
mount/demount head (16, Fig. G : See Fig. M).
IMPORTANT! If the tyre is tubeless, mount it with the valve at 180°
from the tool arm.
6) Now depress the pedal (1, Fig. G) to begin clockwise rotation. Utilize the
wheel's drop-centre area by pushing down on the sidewall nearly opposite the
head to reduce tensional force on the bead as the wheel rotates.
7) Insert the inner tube if the tyre has one.
8) Once the lower bead is completely mounted, repeat the previous procedures
for the upper bead. When the tyre is mounted, depress pedal (7, Fig. G) to
move the column (8, Fig. G) to its non-work position.
9) Depress pedal (5, Fig. G) to release the wheel from the table top.
N.B. Demounting and mounting are always done with the table top rotat-
