Switch Position On / ADSL Test
Testing is done in the "ADSL Test" switch position to determine whether
synchronization is possible with the DSL Access Multiplexer (DSLAM) in
the exchange.
In the process, a corresponding U-R2 connection set-up occurs in
accord with ITU standards G.994.1 (handshake procedure) as well as
with G.992.1 Annex B (A) (ADSL over ISDN), depending on device
model. Due to the fact that a fully functioning ADSL chip set is utilized
in the VIT-A1 DSL-Tester, this is equivalent to complete initialization of
a traditional customer modem.
The current connection status is indicated by the corresponding "ADSL

ADSL Socket

The connection of the VIT-A1 DSL-Tester is made over the "ADSL"
RJ11 socket with the help of an appropriate cable at the desired
measuring point of the customer terminal connection line (for example,
the main distribution frame or cable branch box) in the exchange
direction.
A cable is supplied with the device for this purpose. It is approximately
2 meters long (RJ11-plug on a banana socket/ banana plug
combination; for RJ11 plugs, the middle two contacts – 3 and 4 – are
used). Also included is an RJ11 cable on RJ45 for connecting to a
splitter.

LAN Socket

The user can connect either a laptop or PC over the RJ45-"LAN" socket
with a 100BaseT Ethernet network card. For this connection, a network
cable with 1:1 wiring is required.
Various ADSL connection parameters can be read-out over the LAN
interface. They include, for example, line attenuation, SNR reserve, and
