2. General Information about VIT-A1 DSL-Tester
Using the VIT-A1 DSL-Tester, field-service technicians can easily and
quickly test successful provision of ADSL services at customer terminal
connections.
In place of a customer modem, the DSL-Tester is switched on line in the
direction of the exchange. Possible measuring points for the hook-up
include, for example, the main distribution frame (MDF), the cable
branch box (CBB), the customer interconnection point (CIP) and the
splitter.
In order to assure correct hook-up of a/b wires, the device can detect
the presence of supply voltage on the line (either analog or UK0).
Moreover,
testing
synchronization is possible with the DSL Access Multiplexer (DSLAM) in
the exchange.
With the help of a connected laptop, it is also possible to read-out
various ADSL connecting parameters that can then be analyzed.
Additionally, if a PC is connected to the Ethernet interface, an internet
connection can be set up, similar to that of a normal customer modem.
It is not necessary to calibrate the VIT-A1 DSL-Tester.
