WARNINGS
During the use, only hold on the handles, avoiding touching beyond the hand guards.
The detector has been tested up to 5 minutes to 36 kV.
Use the device in a proper way according to the specified characteristics.
Do not use it in case of rain or fog.
Keep it in a dry and clean place.
Prevent the cable from coming into contact with metal parts connected to the ground during its use.
PRELIMINARY CHECK AND TEST
Please, check the device and the insulating poles before using them. If you see any damage, please, do not make any operation and
contact SOFAMEL distributor.
Keep the device in a way that the signals can be properly seen.
Check the good operating of the device through the checker tester, as follows:
a) Connect the two banana plugs of the external checker to the detector electrodes.
b) ATTENTION! Do not touch conductive parts such as clips, plugs and contact electrodes, and keep button pressed on the
checker tester.
c) Verify that all the three LEDS on the detector are flashing.
The preliminary test has been success only if the above mentioned operations have been made with the described results.
Only in this case it is possible to use the detector. If anything will not respond to what described above, please, do not use the detector.
USE
1. As a Bipolar MV detector (from 3kV to 36kV)
Hold properly the insulating poles without passing the hand guards.
First touch with the electrode of one rod to a neutral conductor or earth. Then touch with the other electrode (second rod) to a
phase conductor.
The LEDS respond when there is a difference in potential between electrodes of 3kV or higher.
If leds are on, it means that there is voltage on the phase conductor.
This method can be used to check fuses.
2. As Phase concordance detector (from 3kV to 36kV)
Hold properly the insulating poles without passing the hand guards.
First touch with the electrode of one rod to a phase conductor, then touch with the other electrode (second rod) to another
phase conductor:
PHASE ACCORDANCE: LEDS flashing
PHASE DISCORDANCE: LEDS continuosly on
To work in completely security, also after using the detector, please, verify the good functioning through a checker device or at least
simply touching with one rod one part surely live/on voltage and the other rod touching an earth potential.
MAINTENANCE
In case of strange operating, contact SOFAMEL, S.L.
Do not manipulate the device because can affect the correct operating and the loose of the guarantee.
After each use, keep the pole and detector inside its transport bag.
Even if it is stored, the voltage detector should be checked and calibrated by the manufacturer after a maximum of 6 years.
IMPORTANT
Any different operation from what described in this leaflet is strictly forbidden.
WARRANTY: Subject to proper use of the detector, our warranty extends for 24 months from sale.
If you need any assistance, please contact our technical services or your SOFAMEL nearest distributor:
