QUICK GUIDE
Define the following parameters to perform an IP Generate Traffic test:
Dest. IP: Enter the IP destination address of the terminal. Only as Client
Transfer type: Select the type of transfer to be simulated
•
Download, data is transferred from the remote host to the device. This
allows to simulate a file downloading toward the network. The device asks for
the transfer of a predefined file that must be already present at remote server
site. Problems won't occur if using as server a second equipment (e.g.
PRO
D2000
).
•
Upload, data is transferred from the device to the remote server. The remote
server must be enabled for the service TFTP and must has appropriate
qualifications in order to write the file transferred. Problems won't occur if
using as server a second equipment (e.g. D2000
•
Upload+Download, the device performs a simulation both in upload toward
a server and in download from the remote server. Data is transferred in both
directions.
•
Server, the device simulates a server which waits for commands on behalf
of a remote equipment.
File length (KB): Enter the file length to transfer in KByte.
Anticipation window (blocks): Enter the number of blocks sent by the device
before waiting the acknowledge message reception. The device implements a
TFTP standard Client, such protocol expects an anticipation window equal to a
block, this means that, for each data packet sent, a verification is waited by the
sender. The more you increase the anticipation window's number, the faster the
throughput obtained is, but the system may doesn't work with a standard TFTP
server. Problems won't occur if using as server a second equipment (D2000
Packets timeout (s): Set the maximum waiting time for the AKNOWLEDGE
message, after which the device considers the transmitted packet lost.
Measurement cycles: Set the number of cycle tests the instrument has to carry
out on the network.
Pause between cycles: Set the pause among cycles. Set together with the
measurement cycles.
Protocol type: Choose the network protocols stack according to the contract.
Ask the correct configuration to use to your local provider. The protocol types are
the following:
•
IP (ROUTER) / (BRIDGE) for IP protocols.
•
IP over PPPoA, for PPP protocols over ATM.
•
IP over PPPoE, for PPP protocols over Ethernet.
