EN: Installation Sheet

Description
The 2010-2-NB Network Board allows compatible fire and
repeater control panels to be controlled in a peer-to-peer fire
network.
It provides redundancy in communications with two isolated
RS-485 channels. Each channel is connected point-to-point to
the network board in the next node in the fire network. It
provides maximum signal integrity and communications quality
at distances up to 1.2 km.
If an open or short circuit occurs in the network wiring, the
system indicates a fault (at the control panel) and continues to
operate.
Installation
WARNING: To avoid personal injury or death from
electrocution, disconnect the control panel from the mains
power supply and batteries before installing this product.
To install the expansion board:
1.
Insert the plastic spacer into the network board as shown
in Figure 1, item 1. This prevents the board from moving
once it is installed.
2.
Install the network board into slot 4 of the control panel
chassis, as shown in Figure 2. Push firmly to ensure a
good connection. Secure the board with the screw
provided.
3.
Connect data cables as shown in Figure 3 (channel 2
connects to channel 1). Channels are marked on the rear
of the network board.
4.
Restore power and add the device to the control panel
configuration (see the control panel installation manual for
further details).
Caution:
To avoid fire network communication failures caused
by electromagnetic interference, mains cabling should enter
the control panel from the bottom of the cabinet when a
network board is installed.
Network configuration
The network board allows for ring or bus configurations.
Ring configuration
This network configuration is recommended as it provides for
redundancy in the transmission path.
For ring configuration (class A), use both channels to connect
all network nodes.
Bus configuration
Caution:
Use this network configuration only in cases where
the detection zones and mandatory EN 54-2 output functions
are not remote between panels.
2 / 28
This network configuration is not recommended. It does not
provide for redundancy in the transmission path and creates a
fire network with high fault sensitivity.
Maintenance
Basic maintenance consists of a yearly inspection. Do not
modify internal wiring or circuitry.
