The installation must be carried out by specialised personnel according to
the instructions in this chapter.
All installation operations must be made by specialised and skilled personnel
referring to the instructions in this manual.
Properly install the accessories necessary for the correct operation of the
equipment.
The use of unsuitable accessories is strictly prohibited.
Piusi S.p.A. accepts no responsibility for harm to persons, property or the
environment due to failure to observe this instruction.
The equipment is for professional use only.
To minimize the accumulation of electrostatic charges, when measuring
flammable fluids, use only tubes with R <1MΩ and keep the gun spout in
contact with the tank during refueling operations.
It is absolutely forbidden to change the length of the cable supplied
The fluid flowing through the meter must have a filtration degree of 75 µm
with a proper filter with efficiency β = 200. As alternative, a proper filtration
can be arranged as close as possible to the inlet of the meters, planning a
suitable inspection / maintenance.
The measured fluid must be free of air or gas bubbles close to the meter,
to avoid a false measurement and any damage to the equipment. For this
purpose, installing a gas separator immediately upstream the meter is rec-
ommended.
The meter cannot differentiate the direction of the fluid through it, and
thus wrong measurements due to inverse movement; therefore, it is nec-
essary to install a properly sized check valve immediately downstream the
meter, or an electronic device able to detect it.
• It is recommended to have the suction duct as short as possible.
• It is recommended to arrange a stiff straight section with proper length up-
stream the meter so as to stabilise the movement of the fluid. (approximately
10 times the nominal diameter of the tube)
• Install a check valve upstream any flexible section exiting the meter.
It is recommended to install the meter keeping the gear axes within a hori-
zontal plane, namely with the covers in vertical position.
Before installing the meter please make sure that the ducts are free of dirt
or foreign matters. For this purpose, install the meter on a previously flushed
system and properly flush the tubes.
Remove the thread-protecting plugs of the equipment only immediately be-
fore the installation.
Follow the reference tables for tightening the hydraulic connections.
Make sure there is no leak close to the threaded connections.
Please make sure that the pressure and the other operating parameters com-
ply with the plate details.
It is important to fill the line slowly during the installation to avoid damaging
the gears: make the fluid flow slowly inside the equipment. No fluid pulsation,
hydraulic or mechanical shock must occur during this operation.
