Recommended Use
To avoid damage to your data, follow these precautions:
* Never configure this unit as a destination for virtual memory.
* Never perform following operations while accessing this unit
• Unplug the USB cable and the power cable
• Turn off your computer
• Put your computer in an energy-saving state (Standby, Hibernate or Sleep)
• Log off, log in or switch user
* In Windows 2000, do not put your computer in standby or hibernation.
This unit does not support standby or hibernate on Windows 2000. If you put the computer in
standby or hibernate mode, the drive's icon may disappear. If the icon is not displayed, then reboot
your computer.
* A delayed write error may be displayed by some computers when they return from an energy-saving
state. If this happens, detach your drive before putting your computer into an energy-saving mode.
* If the power/access LED does not goes OFF when you turn off your computer, unplug the USB cable
from the drive. Protected encryption modes are not activated until the power/access LED turns off.
* Encryption is disabled by default. To use encryption, you must change to encrypted mode and
configure your password.
* Never forget your password as you will never be able to read data saved on the hard drive once you
forget password after you change to encryption mode.
* Encryption is only supported with Windows PCs. If encryption is enabled, you will not be able to use
the drive with a Macintosh computer. Disable encryption before using this device with Mac OS.
* Please keep your password safe. You will not be able to access the drive in encrypted mode without
the password.
* When first connected, the drive may take approximately 20 seconds before the power/access LED
comes ON and the unit is ready for use.
* The maximum size of a file on the default FAT32 partition is 4 GB. To use the drive with files larger
than 4 GB, reformat the drive with NTFS or Mac OS extended, which allow larger file sizes.
* If you configure multiple partitions on the drive, format each volume before use.
