SECTION I: INSTALLER MANUAL
INTRODUCTION
THE 5-WIRE VIDEO-MICRO KIT is an advanced professional Digital Video-Intercom
device, easy to install, without call wires or COAXIAL CABLE.
The kit includes: a 1-line Video Intercom Outdoor Panel with wall-mount box, a
Power Supply Unit, a Monitor and a Door-opener. It permits expansion with a monitor
Ref. 1156 or two telephones Ref. 1152 without additional power supply.
The 4-pair UTP CAT 5 cable can be used (up to a maximum distance of 100 metres)
as indicated below:
- 1 pair to connect "V+" and "V-", (video signal).
- 1 pair for "+", (positive of power supply).
- 1 pair for "-", (negative of power supply).
- 1 pair for "L", (audio/data line).
For greater distances or additional devices, the recommended sections are
shown below:
As this kit is installed without coaxial cable, the system is ideal to replace a standard
1-line (5 wire) intercom to convert it into a video-intercom, taking advantage of the cabling of
the previous installation.
VERY IMPORTANT NOTES
In replacement installations, it is vital that you check that the cables are not
stripped nor in contact with any metallic part of the installation.
If the cabling of the installation is in very bad condition, Fermax recommends to
change it, following the specifications outlined above.
